DAY 2: SCENIC ROUTE TO SAMBURU – NORTHERN WILDLIFE EXPERIENCE
Depart Nairobi post-breakfast and head north through changing landscapes into Samburu National Reserve. Your afternoon game drive will introduce you to species unique to the northern region, including the reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, Samburu ostrich, and elephants at the Ewaso Nyiro River. Stay at a lodge immersed in the arid beauty of the region.
DAY 3: FULL DAY IN SAMBURU – CULTURE & WILDERNESS
Start early with a morning game drive, followed by a visit to a Samburu village to learn about pastoralist traditions and beadwork. After lunch, relax or head out again for a sunset safari, where golden hues over the riverbanks frame wildlife sightings. Expect to see oryx, gerenuk, elephant herds, and possibly rare predators.
DAY 4: MOUNTAINS AHEAD – TRAVEL TO MT. KENYA REGION
Depart after breakfast towards the lush highlands of Mt. Kenya. Arrive at your forested lodge near Nanyuki, with clear views of the mountain’s glaciers. Afternoon greenhouse walk to explore indigenous trees, waterfalls, and farm-to-table experiences. Optional stop at the Equator line monument for a fun demonstration.
DAY 5: FOREST & CULTURE – HIKING & HOMESTEAD VISIT
Enjoy a forest-submitted nature hike on the lower slopes of Mt. Kenya, spotting forest hogs, turacos, and primates. Post-lunch, visit a local Kikuyu or Meru homestead, where you’ll experience farm cooking, storytelling, and traditional crafts. Return in the evening to your highland lodge for relaxation amid cool mountain air.
DAY 6: RIFT VALLEY VISTA TO LAKE NAKURU
After breakfast, head down dramatic escarpments into the Great Rift Valley and arrive at Lake Nakuru National Park. Afternoon game drive reveals flocks of flamingos, white and black rhinos, baboons, and tree-climbing lions. Stop at Baboon Cliff and Makalia Falls for sweeping views before enjoying sunset wildlife sightings.
DAY 7: LEGENDARY MAASAI MARA – WILDLIFE AT ITS BEST
Drive from Nakuru to the Maasai Mara, passing through scenic farmland and Maasai settlements. After lunch, embark on your first Mara game drive, searching for elephants, graceful antelope, and predators. Settle into your lodge or camp as the savannah stretches beneath an expansive sky.
DAY 8: FULL-DAY IMMERSION IN THE MARA
Wake early for a sunrise safari, one of the best moments to photograph wildlife on the move. Return to camp for breakfast, then enjoy a full-day game drive with picnic lunch under acacia trees. Optional: a hot-air balloon ride at dawn or visit to a Maasai village for cultural immersion. Late afternoon return to camp for sundowner drinks.
DAY 9: BUSH TO BEACH – FLIGHT TO DIANI & DEPARTURE
Enjoy a short morning safari, then transfer to the airstrip for a flight to Diani Beach via Nairobi. On arrival, relax on the white sandy beach or enjoy a sunset dhow cruise on the Indian Ocean. Optionally extend your stay or board your flight back to Nairobi, ending your scenic Kenyan adventure.
