Day 1: Mombasa to Tsavo East – Into the Wild
Your adventure begins with an early pick-up from your Mombasa hotel or Moi International Airport. Drive along the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway to Tsavo East National Park, one of Kenya’s oldest and largest parks. Upon arrival, enjoy a game drive en route to your lodge or camp. Tsavo East is known for its red elephants, lions, and scenic spots like the Yatta Plateau and Lugard Falls. After lunch and a short rest, head out for an afternoon game drive before returning for dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 2: Tsavo East to Tsavo West – From Plains to Hills
After breakfast, enjoy a morning game drive as you exit Tsavo East and continue to Tsavo West National Park, known for its rugged terrain and lava flows. Highlights include the Mzima Springs, home to hippos and crocodiles, and scenic game drives across the rocky landscape. Check in at your lodge in time for lunch, then enjoy a relaxed afternoon drive. Return to your camp or lodge for dinner and overnight, with the distant calls of wildlife filling the evening air.
Day 3: Tsavo West to Amboseli – Mount Kilimanjaro Views
Start the day with a sunrise game drive in Tsavo West, then head toward Amboseli National Park, arriving by midday. Known for its iconic views of Mount Kilimanjaro and large elephant herds, Amboseli offers some of the best photographic safari opportunities in East Africa. After lunch and check-in at your lodge, take an afternoon game drive before heading back for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Full-Day Amboseli Safari Experience
Spend the entire day exploring Amboseli. You’ll visit observation points like Noomotio Hill, track wildlife across the dusty plains, and witness herds of elephants moving against the backdrop of Africa’s highest peak. You may also encounter lions, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, and a variety of birds around the marshes. Enjoy a picnic lunch or return to your lodge before an evening drive and overnight stay.
Day 5: Return to Mombasa – End of Safari
After breakfast, enjoy a final short game drive as you exit Amboseli and begin your journey back to Mombasa. The drive offers views of rural Kenya and you’ll arrive back in the afternoon. You’ll be dropped at your hotel or airport, marking the end of a memorable Twende Tours safari.
