3 DAYS 2 NIGHTS
Day 1
Depart from Mombasa, Diani, or Ukunda and head south toward Shimoni, passing through lush coastal villages. On arrival at the Shimoni jetty, board a traditional dhow for a short boat ride to Wasini Island.
Along the way, enjoy views of mangrove-lined channels and turquoise waters. Upon arrival, check into a local eco-lodge or seaside guesthouse and have a fresh seafood lunch. Spend the afternoon exploring the quiet village, walking among coral paths, or relaxing at the shoreline. Enjoy dinner prepared with Swahili spices and unwind to the sound of the ocean.
Day 2
Begin your day with a full-day marine excursion to Kisite-Mpunguti Marine National Park. Board a dhow for dolphin watching (bottlenose and humpback dolphins are common), followed by snorkeling or diving in one of Kenya’s best coral reefs. Swim among vibrant marine life including turtles, reef fish, and occasionally, reef sharks.
Enjoy a Swahili-style seafood lunch on board or at a beachside restaurant. In the afternoon, return to Wasini and explore the coral garden and boardwalk through the mangroves, guided by a local conservation group. Spend your evening stargazing or enjoying a quiet coastal night at the lodge.
Day 3
After breakfast, enjoy a leisurely morning walk along the village trails or relax by the sea with a fresh coconut in hand. Check out by late morning and return to Shimoni by dhow.
From there, begin your return journey to Diani or Mombasa, with optional stops at the Shimoni Caves (once used during the slave trade) or roadside markets for coastal crafts and souvenirs.
